Whether it is a reflection on the character of the area in which we live, the creative skills and keen eyes of members or the growing interest in photography, but tonight’s subject obviously struck a chord with the number of items submitted for perusal and discussion.
Subjects ranged from abandoned psychiatric hospitals, derelict garages and factories, through to discarded litter via sad images of decay and neglect in the once bustling holiday destination of Whitley Bay.
Despite the subject matter, images were of the highest quality utilising imaginative use of points of interest, including a discarded half eaten apple, and the sympathetic use of colour and monochrome to add atmosphere to the images.
This was a non competitive event, however it was apparent that much thought and effort had been put into assembling the submitted material with all those contributing taking pride in presenting images that they could be proud of.
