Dave's last duty as chairman was to to produce the 2012-2013 Chairman’s Report.
It's been another good 12 months for the club. We've had our first exhibition, new members, and plenty of good days out, even if the weather had a habit of refusing to give us the skies we wanted.
It started with the club's first attempt at some tabletop photography, with 3 setups using different lighting techniques. We had a change in the committee part of the way through as secretary Garvin was heading off south due to work. Thanks go to Tony for stepping into the breach and taking on the role, even if Garvin's southern adventure was short lived.
June saw the revival of the Puffin Run, an event to the Farne Islands which I'd organised for a few years. It almost didn't happen as the weather as we left was terrible, but luckily, it cleared enough for the boat to head out, and 30 photographers had plenty of opportunities to take the photos they wanted.
The club's first ever exhibition took place at the White Swan and Oxford Centres in July and August, getting knowledge of the club out to a wider audience, and bringing some new members into the club.
The most popular nights from the previous year, the critique and AV nights, were repeated again along with a couple of tutorials and a guest evening from Dave Fletcher, showing his strobism work.
To finish my 2nd year as chairman, I’d like to again offer my thanks to Gordon, Garvin and Tony for their assistance over what has been a difficult year personally for me. It's now time for me to step aside and take a break from the running of the club, but I'll be happy to offer any assistance my successor requires, and I look forward to be able to sit back each meeting and enjoy the evening a little more.
