What would Dave say?
How good are my photographs?
Well there was nothing to worry about as the critique was constructive, balanced and truthful.
From Tony's Cornwall tin mines, Gordon's arial photograph of St Mary's Lighthouse, Garvin's Alnwick valley, Johns pin sharp pigeon, Sams perfectly structured graveyard, Andrews incredible seascape and Dereks sunrise over Tynemouth Priory to name but a few.
Dave discussed the clarity of detailing in the images, the quality of the lighting, contrast between the various picture styles, darkening of the top corners keeping interest intact, the rock formations to lead the eyes into the picture, the moody feel that is evoked by the structure and lighting of the photograph, changes that make or break the picture, what could have been done differently but nothing harsh or dismissive, just constructive.
People left the club tonight discussing what they will do differently the next time they take a photograph, some surprised at how good people thought an individuals photograph was, and everybody seemed genuinly happy with their entered photographs so the whole night I feel was a total success.
