Bamburgh - Jan 2012
Write-up by David Brennan
An early 7am start was the order of the day for our trip to Bamburgh, with 8 club members and 1 newcomer making it the highest attended club Photo Day so far. Being the norm for January, sub zero temperatures were in evidence when we met up at the community centre, with car thermometers register -1. Little were we to know then, but that would been seen as warm. When we arrived at Bamburgh the same gauges had dropped to -7!!!! It was strange to be walking on a beach and not have it move under your feet, and we definately didn't expect to have to be careful of slipping on ice on the sand. We started shooting southwards, getting the castle in silhouette against the rising sun, before wandering along the beach, through the dunes and around to the inland side, taking more shots as we went. Lunchtime arrived and we decided to travel down to Seahouses, where we encamped at one of the many fish and chip restaraunts for a fuel stop, before heading down to the harbour for more photos. The day finished off with a further stop at Beadnell, with one of the highlights being Sam's sharp eyes spotting an owl in the field next to the carpark before anyone had even got their gear out of the cars.
